Property Description

This is the only property in the Rooney Ranch Homestead complex ever available for sale. Alexander Rooney came out west in 1859. The Rooney Homestead was built by him in 1860. He chose the location right next to a stream. As it turns out, the location was a medicinal spring enjoyed by the Native Americans. He graciously shared this spring with the Natives and entertained many chiefs. Soon fossil bones were found on the ranch homestead and the Smithsonian Institute sent people to collect many pieces. They were found to be dinosaur bones. The collection was installed into the Institute Museum and named after Elexander. The dinosaur footprints were later found on the hogback directly behind this property. In 1975 Rooney Ranch was inscribed into the Historic Register. To this day, Rooney Ranch is the oldest family owned Homestead in Colorado.
The main part of this property was started to be built for Great Grandmother Rooney in 1947. It is the only none owned Rooney property on the Ranch. Between this home and the adjacent original Homestead house is the Artesian Spring where the Native Americans enjoyed bathing and soaking for their medicinal needs. Jefferson County Open space surrounds a good portion of the surrounding area. As the Dinosaur Ridge was developed and traffic increased a high barrier privacy fence was installed between the Ridge and the Rooney Complex. There are plans for developing a great new entrance to the Rooney Ranch Complex by the County.
The home was remodeled and expanded approximately eleven years ago with Top Tier finishes, radiant hot water heated floors, Knotty Elder cabinetry, and Hickory flooring through out. All of the ceilings are now vaulted and the two full baths and half bath are also Top Tier materials and design.
Nestled in the Foothills, you will find a STUNNING Hideout in the Rooney Valley to occupy.
